Dan Albano’s Diamond Club outstanding softball players last week, April 4:

Giselle Alvarez, Los Alamitos, Jr., 3B: The Washington-committed Alvarez homered and played strong defense en route to all-tournament honors at the Michelle Carew Classic.

Bella Fraser, Canyon, Sr.: The Azusa Pacific-bound Fraser earned co-player of the tournament after helping the Comanches capture the Carew Classic for the first time since 2001. She had a double and scored a run in a 2-1 win against Orange Lutheran in the final.

Brianne Kang, Villa Park, Sr., C:  Kang worked with freshman pitcher Auddrey Lira and claimed all-tournament honors for the Spartans at the Carew Classic. Lira was thrust into the spotlight after an injury to ace Sydney Somerndike.

Madalyn Martin, Yorba Linda, So., P: Martin outdueled Whittier Christian ace Brooklyn Carreon in a 2-0 victory as the Mustangs advanced in the La Mirada tournament.

Kai Minor, Orange Lutheran, Fr., OF: The speedy leadoff batter was named co-player of the tournament for the runner-up Lancers at the Carew Classic. Minor went 3 for 4 and scored twice in a 6-3 semifinal win against Norco and 3 for 3 with two runs in a 3-2 victory against Villa Park in the quarterfinals.
