Villa Park High students spent their Saturday morning crafting an uplifting message for others.
Members of the school’s NAMI Club painted canvas tote bags during Positivity Saturday, an activity designed to raise awareness of the importance of mental health.
Kaitlyn Sawyer put her painted bag down to dry. About 30 students at Villa Park High School decorated tote bags with uplifting messages in an activity to raise awareness about the importance of mental health. The bags will be donated to the LGBTQ Center Orange County’s food pantry.

The colorful totes the teens were painting for this event will later be given to be used by the LGBTQ Center Orange County’s food pantry. The project was sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, or NAMI, and Blue Shield of California; there are more than 80 high school NAMI clubs in the state.
