Ryan Jenkins, Norco: Jenkins tossed a no-hitter, faced the minimum 21 batters and struck seven as the Cougars defeated Chaparral 5-0 in the Chino Tournament. Jenkins, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound right-hander, was two outs away from a perfect game when a batter reached on an error, but Norco turned a double play to end the game. It was Jenkins’ second straight no-hitter, as he threw one with five strikeouts in a 7-0 victory over Claremont on Feb. 18. Jenkins is a starting outfielder when is not on the mound.

Powel Mousaian, Village Christian: Mousaian led the Crusaders in scoring with 19 points and added five assists and four rebounds en route to the team’s victory over Long Beach Poly in the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA final. Village Christian qualified for the CIF State Division I playoffs. The Crusaders’ first-round regional game was at San Ysidro on Tuesday night.

Agustin Leiva, Los Altos: The senior midfielder played a big role in the CIF Southern Section Division 6 championship game. He scored twice in Los Altos’ 3-2 victory over Temple City, giving the Conquerors their first title. After Temple City rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the score, 2-2, midway through the second half, Leiva scored the go-ahead goal on a breakaway, which turned into the game-winning goal when the final whistle sounded.

Isaac Vega, Mary Star: The senior pitched five innings and allowed three hits and struck out five Saturday. At the plate, he had a double and a grand slam and he drove in five runs. For the week, Vega drove in seven runs and hit two home runs.

Ahmad Hammouri, Western: He scored 35 points and made six 3-pointers in a 65-49 win over Dos Pueblos in the CIF-SS Division 4A championship game. Hammouri, a 6-3 forward, scored 27 points in the second half. He also had 22 points and 16 rebounds in a 55-33 win over Edgewood in the semifinals. “Offensively he’s a pretty complete player,” said Western coach Marc Harrison. “He can take the ball to the basketball and he can shoot the ball from distance as well. And he’s a super hard worker, too.”

Nicco Ruiz, St. John Bosco: Ruiz won the 152-pound title at the CIF State Championships for boys wrestling in Bakersfield on Saturday, Feb. 26. St. John Bosco finished fifth overall in the team standings with 144 points.
