The sign changers have been busy at local gas stations.

Prices on Wednesday jumped again, rising 13.3 cents in Los Angeles County to $5.65. The Orange County average price rose 13 cents to $5.644, its 30th record in 35 days

Similar increases were seen in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. In Riverside, gas prices leaped 14 cents in a day to $5.54 per gallon. In San Bernardino, prices rose 13 cents to $5.56.

“The situation at the pump is awful, but Americans have the power to reduce consumption and lower price,” tweeted Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in LA County logged its second-largest increase since July 14, 2015. It was the county’s 31st record in 33 days.

In 15 consecutive days, gas prices in LAC have increased 86.4 cents, including 8.9 cents Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. A week ago, prices were 72.3 cents cheaper. Go back a month and prices were 90.5 cents lower. A year ago? $1.827 lower.

Prices in OC have risen 88.4 cents in 18 consecutive days. The average price is 74 cents more than a week ago, 91.6 cents higher than one month ago and $1.827 greater than a year ago.

Oil prices fell sharply Wednesday as big swings shaking global markets go in both directions amid uncertainty about the war in Ukraine. The region is key to markets because it’s a major producer of oil, wheat and other commodities, whose prices have spiked on worries about disruptions to supplies.

A barrel of U.S. crude oil dropped 12.1% to settle at $108.70. Brent crude, the international standard, fell 13.2% to settle at $111.14.
