San Juan Capistrano celebrates the swallows

The swallows decided when they return to San Juan Capistrano, but the community wasn’t waiting any longer to celebrate their annual migration.

After having to cancel the last two years because of the coronavirus, the always popular 62nd Swallows Day Parade and community festival that goes along with it were held Saturday, March 12, in the city’s downtown.

Unfortunately, just in time for the parade’s return, there has been an outbreak of a contagious virus among horses and they were pulled from the lineup, replaced with vehicles – a first in the parade’s history – and other treats for the cheering audience that lined the parade route.
