It’s brought to you by Chef Henry Pineda, who with his business partners, wife Amanda “Panda” Pineda and brother Nicko Pineda, founded MFK by Aysee, their “Modern Filipino Kitchen.” It opened in 2016 on the border of Anaheim and Buena Park.

That restaurant closed after it burned down one night in September 2020. They reopened MFK by Aysee at SteelCraft in Bellflower in 2021. Now comes Lolas, a new restaurant in Anaheim.

In an announcement, Pineda said he was happy to have another location in O.C. The new restaurant has taken over the space formerly occupied by CaliVino Wine Pub off Katella Avenue near Angel Stadium.

“Orange County really helped shape my tastebuds,” Pineda said. “Where I grew up there are tacos everywhere. Up the street is Little Arabia. Over a city is Little Saigon. You have Filipino food in (nearby) Cerritos. Everything I like to eat was only 20 minutes away from me.”

Pineda, 31, is celebrating his mother’s Filipino and father’s Guatemalan roots with the breakfast/brunch menu. The morning meals are a family favorite.

“Every year on my birthday we don’t go to dinner, we go to breakfast,” said Pineda, who grew up in L.A and moved to Anaheim when he was 6. “Breakfast was always the meal where my family ate together. “

A specialty of the house will be Kamayan feasts ($49.95 per person) with six entrees, lumpia, garlic rice, sunny side up eggs, dipping sauces fresh fruit and banana leaves. Entrees include tocino, longanisa, beef tapa, spam, bacon and chicken adobo.

Other brunch dishes will include ube buttermilk ricotta pancakes, Guatemalan Huevos Rancheros and a breakfast burrito with beef tapa, eggs, potatoes, beans, cheese and tomatillo hollandaise sauce.

Dinner service will begin soon and include Kamayan dinner feasts ($390 for six) and other entrees such as Oxtail Kare-Kare, Chicken Adobo Mole, Lechon Kawali and more dishes.

Find it: 2410 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim, 714-363-3335, lolasmfk.com.
