Freestyle Festival coming to Long Beach at the Queen Mary waterfront

The Freestyle Festival is coming to Long Beach’s Harry Bridges Memorial Park on Saturday, Aug. 20. The hip-hop and R&B festival, which showcases artists from the ’80s and ’90s and held its first edition in 2002, will include performances by Lisa Lisa, Taylor Dayne, Exposé and more.

The festival has hosted previous events in Long Beach and other cities such as Norco. Although the flyer states its location at the Queen Mary, the ship will serve more as backdrop, similar to the recently announced Day Trip festival in June.

“The festival will take place at Harry Bridges Memorial Park, adjacent to the Queen Mary, but components of the event will lead into the parking lot next to Catalina Cruises and the Queen Mary parking lot,” Long Beach spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez wrote in an email.

A text for information to a number listed on the festival’s website revealed that tickets will go on sale Friday, March 18.
