Orange Lutheran’s Sheridan Kennedy, Sage Hill’s Isabel Gomez, Pacifica Christian’s Addison Deal and Capistrano Valley Christian’s Halle Sii have been selected CIF-SS players of the year in girls basketball, the section announced Monday.
Kennedy, a sophomore post, and Gomez, a senior point guard committed to Penn, shared player of the year honors in Division 2AA.
Top-seeded Orange Lutheran won the section title by defeating No. 2 Sage Hill 66-61 in the final. Kennedy had 18 points and 13 rebounds in the game while Gomez countered with 20 points, including five 3-pointers.
Deal, a freshman point guard, earned player of the year honors in Division 4A after leading the top-seeded Tritons to their first section championship. She had 25 points in a 69-44 victory against Temple City in the championship game.
Sii, a senior point guard bound for Vanguard, took the award in Division 5AA after guiding the No. 1 seeded Eagles to their first crown. She had 25 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and seven steals in a 70-24 triumph against Desert Christian Academy in the final.
Orange Lutheran’s Lindsay Charity and Capistrano Valley Christian’s Dominic Freeman — both in their second years — earned coach of the year honors.
