The OC Health Care Agency reported 385 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday, March 2, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 539,236.

There were 5,104 new cases reported in the last two-week period as of Wednesday.

There were 217 patients testing positive for COVID-19 reported in Orange County hospitals on Wednesday, including 35 people who needed to be in intensive care units.

The county reported 11 more deaths on Wednesday, increasing the count of those who have died from the virus in Orange County to 6,628.

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates, or gathered through the course of case investigations, and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on Feb. 22.

Of the 6,628 deaths reported from the virus, 1,284 were skilled nursing facility residents, 677 were in assisted living facilities, one was an OC jail inmate, and 21 were listed as homeless.

It is estimated 520,699 people have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
