An assistant principal apparently took his own life Monday morning in a private area at Kraemer Middle School in Placentia, according to campus officials.
School operations were suspended after the apparent suicide of Assistant Principal Moises Plascencia in a private staff area, according to a statement from Principal Michael Young.
Plascencia’s death was not witnessed by any students or fellow staff members, campus officials said.
“Words will never be able to express our true sorrow regarding this loss,” Young wrote. “While we may never make sense of nor understand why this occurred, please know how deeply Mr. Plascencia cared for your students, their education, and all of Kraemer Middle School.
School operations at the middle school were suspended Monday, but expected to resume Tuesday.
Officials said mental health officials from the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District will be on campus to support students, staff and families.
“We thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we continue to navigate this terrible tragedy on our campus,” Young wrote to the “Kraemer Middle School community.”
Placentia police officers were reportedly called to the scene, according to the school.
No additional information was immediately available.
