Each week, publications from the Southern California News Group’s 11 properties (Orange County Register, L.A. Daily News, Press-Enterprise, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Long Beach Press-Telegram, The Daily Breeze, San Bernardino Sun, Daily Bulletin, Redlands Daily Facts, Whittier Daily News and Pasadena-Star News) select the Athletes of the Week for their respective region.

Each athlete is then entered into the overall Southern California Athlete of the Week vote.

Ernesto Figueroa, Los Altos: The senior helped the Conquerors reach the CIF-SS semifinals for the first time. In a Division 6 second-round win, Figueroa scored all three goals in a 3-0 victory over Northview. In the quarterfinals, he scored two goals and made his kick in a penalty-kicks tiebreaker to beat Arroyo.

Alex Forman, Palos Verdes: Forman hit .556 in three games last week (5 of 9) and stole three bases. On the mound, he pitched five innings, allowed one unearned run, two hits with three strikeouts to get win against South Torrance.

Brady Dunlap, Harvard-Westlake: Dunlap helped Harvard-Westlake reach the CIF Southern Section Open Division final for the first time Friday with a 63-60 victory over Sierra Canyon. Dunlap scored 10 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter of the victory.

Shadale Knight, Rancho Cucamonga: Knight had 28 points, seven assists and five steals in leading the Cougars to a 71-57 win over Burbank Providence in a CIF Southern Section Division 3AA quarterfinal game. The 28 points was Knight’s second-highest output of the season and four off his career high. The 6-foot point guard has been Rancho Cucamonga’s floor leader, averaging 16.2 points and 6.3 assists per game this season. The Cougars are the No. 1 seed in the Division 3AA playoffs.

Isaiah Quintero, El Dorado: Quintero was named lower weight outstanding wrestler at the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet where he was champion at 106 pounds. Quintero won two matches by technical fall and three by fall, including a pin at 3:36 of the championship match. Quintero, who is ranked No. 4 in California at 106 pounds, advanced to the CIF State Championships that begin Thursday in Bakersfield. He is seeded fourth at 106 pounds.

Jack Turner, St. John Bosco: The sophomore guard had 25 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals to lead St. John Bosco to a 73-64 victory against Loyola in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinals on Friday, Feb. 18. Turner also led Bosco with 28 points in the team’s 64-62 victory against Fairmont Prep of Anaheim in the second round of the playoffs.
