Adrian Huang, San Marino: The senior came off the bench to score 30 points with 11 rebounds, and added several big plays in overtime, to lift the Titans to a 77-71 victory over South Pasadena. The victory clinched a share of the Rio Hondo League title for San Marino, which won its first league title since 1981. San Marino is 20-3 overall.
Ijezie Anopueme, Narbonne: Anopueme turned in one of more dominant performances of the week. And when you consider he’s a 6’0 guard, that made it even more impressive. In a 61-49 win over San Pedro, Anopueme scored 34 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. He followed that with a 33-point, 20-rebound night in a 56-53 overtime win over Gardena.
Andrew Palacios-DeLeon, Chino: Palacios averaged 29.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists last week, leading the Cowboys to three victories that secured the program’s second straight Mt. Baldy League championship. Palacios had 23 points and 10 assists in a 68-56 win over Chaffey and followed that with 26 points, nine rebounds and six assists in Chino’s 76-58 victory over Baldwin park. He capped the regular season by scoring 40 points, two off his season high, in a 81-62 victory over Don Lugo.
Dylan Lawson, Sunny Hills: He scored 17 points with 27 rebounds in a Freeway League win over Fullerton and scored 20 points with 12 rebounds in a loss to league champion Sonora. “He does everything for us,” Sunny Hills coach Joe OK said of Lawson, who was a standout receiver on the Lancers football team. The Lancers finished second in the Freeway League and take a 21-7 record into the CIF-SS Division 4AA playoffs.
Giovanni Goree, Viewpoint: Goree’s scoring last week led Viewpoint to the program’s highest finish in the Gold Coast League after wins over Paraclete (68-56) and Campbell Hall (82-72). He scored 25 and 34 points, respectively, to help the Patriots earn its second-place finish in the Gold Coast League. Viewpoint (15-5) will host Lawndale in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3AA playoffs Friday.
