The new Segerstrom Shelby Event Center in Irvine showed off its collection of cars and spaces on Thursday, Jan. 20, during a grand opening.

Philanthropists Ted and Rae Segerstrom (of the legacy Orange County farming family that also developed South Coast Plaza and the Segerstrom Center of the Arts) have turned a place to park their collection of more than 80 vintage cars designed by Carroll Shelby into a showroom the public can tour, as well as an event center that can rented for weddings, corporate shindigs and such. But they have also turned it into a way to help others.

All the revenue from visitors and events will be donated, they have said, to the Carroll Shelby Foundation, Shriner’s for Children Medical Center – Pasadena and the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
