The OC Health Care Agency reported 946 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday, Feb. 24, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 536,881.
There were 8,087 new cases reported in the last two-week period as of Wednesday.
There were six more patients testing positive for COVID-19 reported in Orange County hospitals on Wednesday, making for 331 people, including 68 who needed to be in intensive care units.
The county reported 19 more deaths on Wednesday, increasing the count of those who have died from the virus in Orange County to 6,524.
The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on Feb. 15.
Of the 6,524 deaths reported from the virus, 1,276 were skilled nursing facility residents, 669 were in assisted living facilities, two were O.C. jail inmates and 20 were listed as homeless.
It is estimated 510,659 people have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
