The OC Health Care Agency reported 702 new cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday, Feb. 15, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 533,499.
There were 14,861 new cases reported in the last two-week period as of Tuesday. That’s down from 26,744 reported for the two weeks ending Thursday.
There were 431 patients testing positive for COVID-19 reported in Orange County hospitals, with 77 people in intensive care units.
The county reported 18 more deaths on Tuesday, increasing the count of those who have died from the virus in Orange County to 6,376.
The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on Feb. 9.
Of the 6,376 deaths reported from the virus, 1,264 were skilled nursing facility residents, 660 were in assisted living facilities, two were O.C. jail inmates and 19 were listed as homeless.
It is estimated 484,825 people have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
