Coronavirus: Orange County is nearly 70% fully vaccinated with 1,265 new cases and 14 new deaths

The OC Health Care Agency reported 1,265 new cases of the coronavirus on Thursday, Feb.3, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 521,431.

There were 55,324 new cases reported in the last two-week period as of Thursday.

There were 28 fewer patients testing positive for COVID-19 reported in Orange County hospitals on Thursday, bringing the total number of hospitalizations to 818. There were 147 patients with COVID-19 in intensive care units.

The county reported 14 more deaths as of Thursday, increasing the count of those who have died from the virus in Orange County to 6,140.

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on Jan. 24

Of the 6,140 deaths reported from the virus, 1,238 were skilled nursing facility residents, 652 were in assisted living facilities, two were O.C. jail inmates and 19 were listed as homeless.

It is estimated 410,516 people have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.

There have been 7,417,642 tests taken to date, 273,995 recorded in the last week. The county is now reporting that data weekly on Thursdays.

The OC Health Care Agency reported that 2,234,116 Orange County residents were fully vaccinated as of Thursday. This represents 69.3% of Orange County’s total population.

There have been 1,137,045 booster doses administered, which represents 25% of total doses that have been administered in Orange County.

According to the OC Health Care Agency dashboard, the percentage of population by age (eligibility is now open to children as young as 5) with at least one dose is:
