Canyon last season finished 3-7 overall. The Comanches were in a three-way tie for first place in the North Hills League with a 2-1 league record.
Hughes replaces Josh Waybright, who coached the Comanches for only the 2021 season. Waybright said he resigned for health reasons. He suffered injuries from a car crash during the ’21 season.
