Fans of Disney musicals can enjoy an evening of their favorite songs sung by — who else —former Broadway Disney princesses.
“Disney Princess —The Concert,” which features four theater veterans known for their Disney performances, is scheduled to tour more than 80 cities, including two performances in Anaheim on Sunday, Feb. 27. The show includes more than 30 Disney favorites including “Let It Go,” “A Whole New World,” “Colors of the Wind” and “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes.”
The actresses will perform as themselves, not as costumed Disney characters. They are expected to share their personal stories of playing their characters on Broadway.
“Orange County has always been a community that supports the arts,” said veteran Broadway performer Susan Egan, who originated the role of Belle in “Beauty and the Beast,” in a statement. “As a graduate of the Orange County School of the Arts, I’m particularly appreciative because that program put me on the path, and gave me the tools, to make my dreams come true. I’m thrilled now to both executive produce and perform in ‘Disney Princess — The Concert’ and have the opportunity to play my hometown … and bring this joyous production to the community I love most.”
The other three performers
Arielle Jacobs, who portrayed Jasmine in Broadway’s “Aladdin”
Anneliese van der Pol, the final Belle on Broadway, who’s also known for “That’s So Raven” on the Disney Channel (also attended Orange County High School of the Arts)
Syndee Winters, who played Nala in “The Lion King” on Broadway
