Each week, publications from the Southern California News Group’s 11 properties (Orange County Register, L.A. Daily News, Press-Enterprise, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Long Beach Press-Telegram, The Daily Breeze, San Bernardino Sun, Daily Bulletin, Redlands Daily Facts, Whittier Daily News and Pasadena-Star News) select the Athletes of the Week for their respective region.

Each athlete is then entered into the overall Southern California Athlete of the Week vote.

Bryanna Graham, Bonita: Graham played a big role as the Bearcats improved to 11-7 overall and 4-0 in the Palomares League. She scored 20 points with 12 rebounds in a 45-42 win over Claremont, and in another big test against Glendora, she scored 10 points to go with 13 rebounds in a 45-38 win. Graham added 18 points in a dominating 62-18 victory over Ayala.

Tatum Tamashiro, Rolling Hills Prep: Tamashiro had a pair of 27-point performances last week. She led the Huskies to a 68-25 win over Vistamar and she followed that with 27 points in a 58-48 loss to Troy.

Lani White, Mater Dei: The Utah-bound forward scored a career-high 27 points and added six rebounds to lead the top-ranked Monarchs to an 80-65 victory against No. 2 Rosary in the Trinity League. White averaged 19.7 points while leading Mater Dei to three victories during the week.

Nikki Velasco, El Camino Real: Velasco scored one goal in a 2-0 win over Palisades and scored twice in a 6-0 win over North Hollywood. The sophomore forward is the team’s second-leading scorer with four goals behind Ava Tibor’s 10. Velasco is also the team’s second best distributor with three assists.

Kiana Felix, Patriot: The senior forward registered three goals last week as the Warriors won a pair of games to remain unbeaten in River Valley League play. She scored both goals in a 2-1 road win over Arlington, a victory that gave Patriots sole possession of first place in the league standings. Felix scored another goal in the team’s 4-0 win over La Sierra. Patriot is 10-2-2 this season and has won six straight matches.

Isabella Yakel, Long Beach Poly: The Portland-bound midfielder scored a goal in the Jackrabbits’ 2-1 win against Long Beach Wilson that kept their title Moore League hopes alive. Yakel had a four-goal performance against Lakewood in Poly’s previous match. Against Wilson, she netted her 13th goal of the season to start Poly’s comeback in the 2-1 triumph.
