USC will not allow fans at any indoor sporting events through Jan. 14, the school’s athletic department announced Tuesday evening. The decision aligns the events with the school’s move to hold classes remotely through the first week of the spring semester due to the ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases.

Only families and guests of team members will be allowed to attend the affected games, which include the men’s basketball game against Oregon State on Jan. 13 and men’s volleyball matches against Princeton and Erskine on Jan. 12 and 14, respectively.

Any games previously postponed due to COVID-19 cases that are rescheduled prior to Jan. 15 will also be closed to fans.

Ticket holders for impacted events will be contacted by the USC athletics ticket office about refunds or credits.

The news comes as both USC basketball teams return to practice this week following pauses due to positive COVID-19 cases.

The seventh-ranked men’s team had its 12-0 start to the season interrupted by a locker room-wide outbreak but is scheduled to play at Cal on Thursday night. The women’s team will play at Colorado on Friday but Sunday’s game at Utah has been postponed due to COVID issues with the Utes.
