A 26-year-old man was killed with a semi-automatic gun in Garden Grove on Friday, Dec. 31, during what police called a domestic abuse incident.
Police said a man intervened in a physical dispute between his sister and her husband inside an apartment.
“During the time the suspect intervened, he pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot the victim in the upper torso,” the release states.
The suspect, the victim’s brother-in-law, was released pending further investigation, the Garden Grove Police Department reported.
At 3:48 p.m., police responded to a call about a shooting at an apartment in the 12000 block of Trask Avenue. Officers were told there was at least one man inside the apartment who had suffered a gunshot wound, a news release states.
Officers searched the apartment and found a 26-year-old man who had been shot once. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics took him to a hospital, where the man, who was not identified because his family has not been notified, was pronounced dead.
