A 51-year-old Garden Grove man pleaded guilty Tuesday and was immediately sentenced to three years in prison for a racially motivated attack on a liquor store employee in Huntington Beach.
Ralph Stanford Davis III made a racial slur about the victim’s perceived nationality Dec. 12 before punching him in the face as the clerk attempted to close the store, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Davis pleaded guilty to one count each of inflicting injury on an elder adult and violation of civil rights causing violent injury, both felonies, and a misdemeanor count of unlawful tampering with a vehicle.
Davis also admitted a sentencing enhancement for a hate crime, according to court records.
