Driving west through Corona this weekend could be a nightmare.
In a rescheduling of the closure canceled last weekend, all westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway are set to shut from McKinley Street to Main Street — all weekend long — for a construction project, a Riverside County Transportation Commission news release states. Last week’s planned work was canceled because of the heavy Santa Ana winds.
Scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, and end at 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, the closure will allow crews to safely put up support structures to guide construction of a new $270 million ramp connecting toll lanes on the 91 and 15 freeways, the release states. The westbound 91 Express Lanes in Riverside County and westbound 91 off-ramp at McKinley also are scheduled to close.
The closure was originally planned for Friday, Jan. 21, through Monday, Jan. 24.
