Each week, publications from the Southern California News Group’s 11 properties (Orange County Register, L.A. Daily News, Press-Enterprise, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Long Beach Press-Telegram, The Daily Breeze, San Bernardino Sun, Daily Bulletin, Redlands Daily Facts, Whittier Daily News and Pasadena-Star News) select the Athletes of the Week for their respective region.

Each athlete is then entered into the overall Southern California Athlete of the Week vote.

Bryanna Graham, Bonita: The Bearcats finished the San Dimas tournament in style by beating Murrieta Valley, 56-47, in a consolation game. They can thank Graham, who had 28 points 13 rebounds as she helped rally the team back from a double-digit deficit. She is averaging 17 points per game season

Moka Saiki, Portola: The guard and co-captain scored 29 points in a victory against Laguna Hills and a career-high 31 in a triumph against University to help the Bulldogs improve to 3-0 in the Pacific Coast League and 9-4 overall. She is averaging 22 points, six rebounds and just over three steals in 11 games since returning from a fractured hand.

Gracie Carrasco, San Pedro: Carrasco helped lead the Pirates to the championship of the Best in the West Winter Classic. She had finished the week with three goals and five assists.

Erica Collins, Chino Hills: Collins, a 6-foot-3 center who has signed with UNLV, was a double-double machine in helping the Huskies advance to the finals of the San Dimas Tournament. She averaged 19 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks during the opening rounds of the tournament. Collins had 22 points, 22 rebounds and six blocks in the quarterfinals, as Chino Hills defeated Roosevelt 51-42 to avenge a previous loss. Collins is averaging 17.9 points, 13.3 rebounds and four blocks on the season.

Nala Williams, Long Beach Poly: The 5-foot-8 guard was selected MVP after averaging 22.7 points and eight rebounds in the Jackrabbits’ run to the San Dimas Tournament championship. She tallied 32 points with eight rebounds, six assists and seven steals as the Jackrabbits (7-2) topped Chino Hills, 65-46, in the tournament final. She is averaging 18.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 3.9 steals.
