Fifth-year senior defensive back Qwuantrezz Knight is likely to play one more game during his college career but it won’t be alongside his UCLA teammates in the Holiday Bowl against North Carolina State on Dec. 28.
Knight announced Thursday night that he won’t compete in the bowl game for UCLA “due to COVID protocols.”
It was not made clear whether Knight had tested positive but he is vaccinated. Whether he tested positive or has to quarantine because of contact tracing, would likely require him to miss enough time to keep him out of the game.
He was an emotional and vocal leader for the Bruins and had a team-high 66 tackles and 8.5 tackles for a loss in 12 games this season. He transferred to UCLA in 2020 from Kent State.
