The parade runs through Sunday, Dec. 19, launching at 6:30 p.m. each night from the tip of Lido Isle. The route is about 14 miles and takes about 2.5 hours.

About 110 boats, from mega yachts to small kayaks, entered this year. Most go all out with their decor.

Many people gathered at Marina Park, the largest public viewing area along the parade route. It offers front-row viewing as the boats pass and, on Wednesday, a prime spot to see the opening night fireworks from the Newport Pier. The first night’s grand marshals, several Orange County Olympians, walked a red carpet for the event kickoff.
