Disneyland replenishes Magic Key reservations through March

Disneyland delivered an early Christmas gift for annual passholders as the Anaheim theme park replenished Magic Key reservation availability on virtually every day through late March after the cupboard had grown bare throughout most of December.

Disneyland replenished Magic Key reservation availability from Thursday, Dec. 23 through March 23 for all four tiers of the new annual pass program.

The new Magic Key annual passes went on sale in late August after Disneyland killed its former four-decade-old annual passholder program in January during the extended coronavirus closures of the parks.

Disneyland sold out of the top-priced Dream Key in late October amid howls from angry passholders due to the widespread lack of reservations available for the $1,399 pass with no blockout dates. The $949 Believe Key sold out in late November. The $649 Enchant Key and $399 Imagine Key remain available.

The flush reservation calendar represents a complete turnabout for passholders who had seen dwindling and diminished availability become the norm. At the beginning of the month, daily ticket and annual passholder reservations were unavailable for the rest of December.

A Magic Keyholder has filed a lawsuit alleging Disneyland artificially limited theme park capacity and blocked passholders with “no blockout” annual passes from making reservations.

The new batch of Magic Key reservations has quieted complaints from passholders — at least for now.

“Magic Keyholders can rejoice as park pass availability for all four tiers has been replenished through March 2022,” according to WDW News Today.

The top-tier Dream Key passholders saw refreshed reservation availability throughout the typically busy week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day — including coveted spots on New Year’s Eve.

Weekend dates that had been often difficult to obtain have been refilled throughout the first three months of 2022.

The replenishment of the Magic Key reservation calendar comes as Disney California Adventure prepares for the Lunar New Year event on Jan. 21 through Feb. 13 and the Food & Wine Festival on March 4 through April 26.

Passholders planning to attend upcoming separate-admission, after-hours parties and hoping to spend the whole day at the parks will be able to snap up daytime reservations on the event dates. Sweethearts’ Nite will run on Feb. 1, 3, 8, 10 and 14 at Disneyland. Villains Nite will take place on March 8 and 10 at Disney California Adventure.

Plenty of entertainment is set to return to Disneyland and DCA in the first few months of 2022 — although firm dates have not yet been set.

Celebrate Gospel will relocate from DCA’s Hollywood Land to Disneyland’s Fantasyland Theatre in February. Live choirs featuring local singers will celebrate Black History Month — which runs throughout February.

The “Tale of the Lion King” show and the “Fantasmic” and “World of Color” spectaculars are scheduled to return in spring.
